In protest against this, the newspaper printed five lakh copies on Friday, whereas usually only 80 thousand copies are printed daily. Local people also supported this protest. On Friday morning, people bought newspapers by standing in line.

On Friday, Apple Daily made the raid its main story. The newspaper wrote that the police have confiscated 44 hard disks. It is the first time since pro-democracy protests by pro-China protests in 2020 that officials have called journalists’ articles in violation of national security law. On the other hand, this action of China has been criticized by many countries of the world. The European Union and Britain have said the raids show China is using the law to stifle voices of dissent.
