New Delhi: Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has created history at the Weightlifting World Championships. Mirabai Chanu has won the silver medal in the World Weightlifting Championship. At the same time, China’s weightlifter Jiang Huihua won gold by lifting 206 kg. Olympic champion Hou Zhihui, on the other hand, won the bronze medal by lifting only 198 kg. Zhihui is the reigning Olympic champion in the 49kg category. He won the gold medal in the 49 kg category at the Tokyo Olympics.

Weightlifting World Championship has been organized in Bogota, Colombia. Mirabai Chanu’s journey in this championship was not easy. She was battling injury. But, he did not give up. He won the silver medal in clean and jerk by lifting 113 kg. He lifted 87 kg in snatch and 113 kg in clean and jerk. In this way he lifted a total load of 200 kg.

Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal at the Weightlifting World Championships, leaving Olympic champion Hou Zhihui behind. Zhihui could lift 109 kg in clean and jerk. And in the snatch, he lifted 89 kg. Zhihui finished third and got the bronze medal. Whereas, Jiang Huihua lifted 113 kg in clean and jerk and 93 kg in snatch. In this way, he won the gold medal by lifting a total of 206 kg.

Be aware that this is Mirabai’s second medal in the World Championship. Earlier in 2017, he had won the gold medal with a lift of 194 kg (85 kg plus 109 kg).
