Famous Temples Of Jammu-Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir, located in the far northern region of the country, has a rich history of its own. Ranbireshwar Temple- One of the most popular temples of Jammu is the Ranbireshwar Temple, where a large number of devotees gather. The calm atmosphere and beauty of this place really evokes a strange feeling of devotion. This temple was built by Shiva devotee Raja Ranbir Singh, behind which many stories are buried. Ranbireshwar Temple is situated opposite to the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Secretariat. There are twelve crystal ‘Lingams’ present in the temple which are made at a height of 12 to 18 inches. This temple is located on Shalimar Road which is open for tourists from 5 am to 9 pm.

Raghunath Temple- The awe-inspiring architecture of Raghunath Temple is really amazing. This temple located in the heart of Jammu tells a strong historical background. This temple is dedicated to Sri Rama, the eighth incarnation of Vishnu. There are many other temples near this temple which are dedicated to the gods and goddesses related to the Indian epic Ramayana. The construction of this temple was completed in 25 years and its chief architects were Maharaja Gulab Singh and son Maharaja Ranbir Singh. This temple is situated in the center of Jammu city. If you want to reach here then reach Fattu Chaugan, Pakki Dhaki, Majhin. Here you can see God from 6 am to 8 pm.
Amarnath Temple (Pahalgam)- Amarnath Temple, surrounded by steep and high hills, is counted among the most popular pilgrimage centers in the whole world. Every year lakhs of people come here to seek the blessings of Shiva. This is the oldest existing temple in Kashmir which was built in the 5th century. This temple is located in a narrow gorge, which is at an altitude of 3888 meters above sea level. One of the main shrines of Hinduism, this temple is prepared from the natural composition of snow, which can be seen in the months of July to August. However, it is mandatory to have a health certificate to reach here. It is located in the eastern area of Srinagar where darshan can be done from 4 am to 11 pm. The nearest bus stand is Pahalgam where you can easily reach by road.
Vaishno Devi Temple- Vaishno Devi Temple is the second most visited temple in the country after Tirupati Temple. This temple is dedicated to Mata Rati or Vaishnavi. To reach the temple, pilgrims have to walk at an altitude of 5200 feet. There is a yatri camp near Trikuta hill during the visit to the temple. This temple is established in a cave in the Himalayas where the only means of access is helicopter. Apart from walking, pilgrims can take the help of horse ride. Please tell that to reach here you have to reach Jammu Katra first. This temple is open for visitors from 5 am to 12 noon and again from 4 pm to 9 pm.

Shankaracharya Temple- The Shankaracharya Temple located in the south-eastern part of Kashmir is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It can be called a true example of the ancient architecture of Kashmir. This temple is situated on the Gopadri hill which is built on an octagonal basement of several layers. Because of which the foundation of the temple is solid. Built in 371 BC, the beautiful Himalayan valleys are visible all around this temple which is mesmerizing. This place is situated on the Shankaracharya Hill which is in Srinagar. This temple is open for tourists from 8 am to 8 pm.
